Wedding of a Lifetime

We are back from the honeymoon, and we are married!!!! :) It was a fabulous day, and it was a fabulous event! I want to go back and relive it- as a bridesmaid or something so I can watch it all happening.

It poured the morning -and all the night- before.  I mean thunder, dark sky, lightening poured.  My parents, brother-in-law, and so many family friends turned out to help fix it.  We couldn't stop the rain, but we could move tables under the garage, try to soak up water, and my dad even bought a pump to pump water off the dance floor.  Thankfully, Grandmama had a talk with Jesus, and he stopped the rain for the rest of the day.  The work wasn't over, but with the pump and the friends and Jesus it turned out to be a complete success!

My photographer told me it'd be about 90 days before we would have our pictures. I'm just not sure if I can wait that long! That is the only disappointment I have about the whole weekend.  Being the bride, I couldn't be the one walking around with a camera (which I normally am), so I don't have any pictures.  I have no pictures from the rehearsal dinner - a GREAT time-, no pictures of the wedding -beautiful and sweet-, and no pictures of the reception- an absolute blast!

I swear they cut my reception short.  It felt like it was over in about an hour! I hear that's how it goes though for most brides.  I am so thankful I made the last minute decision to hire a videographer.  That's something else I can't wait to get back, but I don't think he will take as long as the pictures.

We have gotten the best and the sweetest compliments from friends and family members who attended.  I love hearing their stories about it all. I love "seeing" it through their eyes.  I love hearing all about it. I don't think that will ever get old.

Luckily, I found this free app about a week before the wedding.  It's called Capsule, and it's a free app for people to download on their smart phones (which I still have none of).  They can take pictures and videos and they automatically upload to this website, so I get to see!  That was a great idea.  They even sent me this little card design which I took to Office Depot and had printed on business cards for about $10.00.  We passed them out to everyone.  Not too many people actually did it, but the ones who did did a great job with taking pictures! I am very grateful.  It's all I've seen of the wedding!  Here are a few of them.

In closing...

Yesterday was my birthday, and I couldn't have asked for a more perfect day! I got to spend it with the people I love most, my family, and that makes me happy!

Let's do one last post on my house.  The exterior.  We're hopeful someone may make an offer this week.  Say a prayer! I'll keep you posted!

I put in a new mailbox...
Okay, Dad put in a new mailbox.
There had to be a lot of cleaning up...
Then, this happened.
Before picture...

Went green with a tankless water heater.
Getting close to being done!

This sweet baby came to live with me. :) Meet Pixie.

Done!

So there is my home.  It's been a great home.  It's been through many changes, so have I.  It will definitely be bittersweet when it sells, but I will always look back on with fond memories and smile.

Little Bit of This

I've been keeping all of the wedding details a secret, so I thought I might share a little something with you.  I have asked four dear friends if they would help us on our day by cutting our wedding cakes for us.  This is how I asked them.
Poem found here: http://www.familyfriendpoems.com/poem/a-poem-on-the-ingredients-of-friendship
Stephen took the poem and made the design.  I cut them out and glued them to cardstock.  Then, off in the mail they went.  I think they were a hit!

We went to a Mardi Gras Fundraiser Ball a few weekends ago.  We had a great time and helped provide a scholarship to a deserving high school graduate! That always makes it worth it.

I've started crocheting a baby blanket, and I've become obsessed with working on it.  If I had internet on my phone, I'd show you a picture of it.  Maybe one day I'll catch up with the times.  Last Christmas was my four year anniversary with the phone I currently have, so technically speaking I'm still living in 2008!

It's Getting Real

Today marks the three month countdown! In exactly three months from today we have to have everything done. All plans must be final.  Everything on my list must be checked off.  That kind of makes me queasy.  There's a lot left to be done, but I know we will get it! This past weekend Stephen had his Bachelor Trip in New Orleans, so while he was away I was able to go home and get a lot of things done with Mom.

We came to a conclusion on reception decor.  It's different than we had originally planned but way better! I can't wait to see it all come together.

I booked a videographer.  This was something that I thought we would skip all together, but in the last few weeks I really started thinking that I would regret it if we didn't have one.  I'm happy with this decision.
Mom and I have a lot of work to do to get the church wedding-day-worthy. We have a lot of ideas bouncing around. I have no doubts that that will come together as beautifully as everything else.

I had a wonderful weekend at home.  Sunday I met with two of my favorite ladies from my church, and they helped me with my crocheting skills.  It was extremely helpful and so much fun! It was just what I needed to help get me excited about learning to crochet again.

Updates

Updated news from the school front:

Turned in my first paper today on the differences of the performance of the military during the beginning and the end of the Revolutionary War.... :/, and I have a presentation to give tonight in my education class on creating and sticking to a budget.  Let's hope all that goes well!

Updated news from the wedding front:

I think we have our invitations finalized....thanks, Stephen! :)  I've also mailed out invitations to the women I've asked to cut our cakes for us.  I'll post pictures soon.  I had a moment and thought our wedding invitations were to go out next week (the usual 6-8 weeks early) and had a panic attack.  Then, I realized I just can't count.  They are to go out next month- whew! =)  Saturday morning we have our counseling session at the church.  I think that's going to be fun- I'll let you know!

Updated news from the home front:

No one wants my house.  No one wants to look at my house either.  It's getting tiresome wearing wrinkly clothes (because it's a pain getting out my ironing board/iron in the morning and having to put it right back up....I know, that's terrible, but when I have to leave for work so early it's hard) and having to pick up every single thing behind me in the mornings so just in case someone decides to go be nosy.  I guess that's the business of this game though.  Stephen's house remodel is a slow-go.  We're still on his hall bathroom, but it's looking great!

That's about all I have to say about that.

Let the Real Fun Begin

It was time to get serious.  That wall needed to come down!
So, we made it happen.

They don't trust me with a big hammer.

On to the other side.
This is why I don't get the big boy toys...not too bad though.
Woo! Hoo! We have progress!
Aahhh....Now, that's the size kitchen I can work with. Totally worth all the bruises, tiredness, sneezes, and coughs.

Moving Along

Over the next few days we did little jobs around the house.  We started with trimming back everything.  It had been a few years since anyone lived in the house; therefore, no one was really taking care of it other than cutting the grass.

Then, it was on to helping improve the curb appeal a bit.
We were also working on the living room.  We were lucky in this room.  All it needed was some fresh paint after we pulled up the carpet.
There's the next few days in pictures.
